Are Affiliate Marketers Still In Demand?

March 18, 2015

If you’ve been following my blogs for the past 15 years, you’ve no doubt seen what writing articles and blog posts can do for your business. Here’s a new article I’ve written on affiliate marketing: just some thoughts and opinions.

“Affiliate marketing is DEAD!”, they scream. Ummm… no, it’s not. Is there still a demand for affiliate marketers today? That’s like asking if there is still a demand for employees and salespeople…

Yes, there is still a huge demand for affiliate marketers. One of the challenges faced in the affiliate marketing industry is that it sometimes sounds too good to be true. The reason most people roll their eyes at the claims of affiliate marketing companies is that they don’t understand affiliate marketing, and yes, some affiliate marketing companies make some really dumb claims. Some even make claims that border on outright lies and fraud.

But it’s YOUR duty to do your homework, your “due diligence” as it were. When you see claims of “advertising thats guaranteed to work or its free!”, then you need to lift the hood of that vehicle to see if it’s real. There are very few companies who are well known without advertising that fact. And “advertising that’s guaranteed to work or it’s free” is another mistaken belief.

Advertising done properly works. Advertising that is done without knowledge and experience, in a shoddy manner, will not work. In either case, neither are free. Advertising costs time AND MONEY. Whether you profit from your advertising or not is determined by the quality of your product or service, and your dedication to educating your customers how to use your products and/or services.

As long as there are products and services to sell, affiliate marketing will be the most viable vehicle to deliver the goods. Affiliate marketers bear the costs of their own marketing and advertising, and reap the rewards when they make a sale and earn a commission. The affiliate company reaps the rewards of having an army of “sales reps” who are commission-based only, as they don’t have to bear the costs of salaries and employees.

Should you be an affiliate marketer? Sure! Why not?

Should you start your own affiliate company, product or service? If you have enough capital and knowledge to do so, sure! Go for it!

To get started in affiliate marketing, you don’t really need your own product, although you will make more money if you have your own, with an army of affiliates selling it for you.

You don’t need a web site either, as most affiliate companies provide you with a pre-designed web site that is programmed to credit you with commissions you earn promoting their goods when you make a sale.
